Staff

Dear Staff:

Legislation was recently passed that appropriated funding for the Teacher COVID-19 Grant and School Support COVID-19 Grant Programs.  These grants were created to recognize the additional time classroom teachers and eligible K-12 school support staff spent, outside of normal working hours, to provide a continuity of learning during the period of school closure in 2019-2020, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.   Classroom teachers will receive up to $500 and support staff up to $250.  This amount will be prorated if you worked part time.  Checks will be mailed to your home on or about February 25, 2021

To be eligible:

  • K-12 staff only are eligible (preschool staff, administrators, business officials, student teachers, and substitutes are not eligible)
  • Classroom Teacher is defined as:  A K-12 full-time or part-time teacher with an assigned class who provided continuity of learning to students during the 2019-2020 period of school closure that resulted from COVID-19 (this includes art, gym, music, and reading specialist teachers).
  • School Support Staff is defined as:  A K-12 full time or part-time paraprofessional, aide, or non-instructional staff (bus drivers, custodians, food service, secretaries) who provided services to students during the 2019-2020 period of school closure that resulted from COVID-19.
  • Prior to the issuance of Executive Order 2020-35, on April 2, 2020, you performed at least 75% of your standard instructional workload in a brick and mortar classroom at a district.
  • After issuance of Executive Order 2020-35 ON April 2, 2020, you developed tools and methods to deliver distance learning, take-home packets, or other methods described in the district continuity of learning plan.
  • You worked additional time spent outside of normal working hours, experienced hazardous conditions, or incurred additional costs related to ensuring students could effectively participate in the school’s continuity of learning plan.

Eligible classroom teachers and support staff can click on the link below to complete the Certification Form 5734.  You must complete and print the form and submit it to Cristal Rousseau, in the Business Office, no later than Friday, December 4, 2020.  The Department of Treasury WILL NOT accept late forms.  The district must identify eligible classroom teachers and school support staff and determine their FTE calculation.  Any classroom teacher or support staff may appeal their eligibility status or FTE calculation to the Business Office, in writing, by December 4, 2020.  For this reason we encourage you to submit your form as soon as possible, to allow our Business Manager time to process and determine eligibility.
